In the JDE, on the Debug menu, click Go. The simulator starts. Any applications that you have previously compiled are now be available in the simulator. Alternatively, you can also start the simulator by pressing F5. This does not require a workspace or application to be loaded in the integrated development environment (IDE); however, if an active project exists, it is recompiled if a change has occurred since the last compilation.
